TGI...Thursday?

Zach and Dottie were here last night. They stopped through on their way home from their honeymoon. It's definitely clear that they are a good fit. It was fun to see them together, to have some company. I've had lots of people talk about stopping in to visit but they are the first to follow through, so it was fun to show people around the city a little bit.

Tomorrow is Friday and that means Laura will be here...for good. I'm not sure the magnitude of this has really sunk in yet, but I'm ready for it. We've been apart for quite some time now, and I know I'm not the best long-distance boyfriend, so this will be a good experience for both of us. It'll be hard to plan a wedding from 600 miles away, but the benefits will certainly outweigh the costs.

Definition of Worthless

I had intentions of "getting things done" today but those quickly turned into some relaxing couch time. I was pretty worthless the majority of the day, watching a lot of tv (mostly Law and Order) and thinking about the things I should be doing. Oh well. Between last week and this weekend, I feel like I've caught back up to my life. Before that, it seemed like I was constantly playing catch up.

Jessica and I came up with a pretty fun idea over the weekend and I finally got around to making it tonight. Whenever the group of us decide to go do something, we get a constant stream of "I don't cares", especially when it comes to going out to eat. So, to resolve our little no-one-will-make-a-decision conundrum, we made the Restaurant Box. In it are several dozen strips of paper with names of restaurants that we'd like to eat at - mostly ones we haven't been to yet. There is everything from Quizno's (I've never been) to various local restaurants to steakhouses downtown. Now, if a weekend rolls around and we all want to go get dinner, all we have to do is reach in the box. Not only does it eliminate the need to make a decision for the group, but we'll constantly be trying new things. I'm sure somebody out there has done it before, but we thought it was a clever idea.

Gmail & Firefox

This is dorky but I had to post it. Firefox has finally updated its extensions for gmail and there are a couple must-haves if you are using both Firefox and Gmail.

First, there is a gmail notifier that resides in your internet window toolbar. It works exactly like the normal gmail notifier. The link is here.

Next, there is an extension to add a delete button to your gmail messages. Rather than using the stupid drop down menu and clicking "Add to Trash", this extension will put a button to do it for you...very handy. The link is here.

Enjoy!

Computer is Working

In case you couldn't tell, I also now have my computer working again. It was down for a night while I reinstalled windows. I did the installation correctly but couldn't get some things working properly. Once I realized I was an idiot and forgot to reinstall drivers everything is working fine (better than before in fact!).

Relaxing Weekend

After taking off from work yesterday morning at about 11, I've been fairly unproductive. I decided I owed it to myself to take a little time for me. Since I had my 40 hours in, that meant it was time to go home! Spent yesterday finally putting some things away in the apartment, went and hit some golf balls, and then one of Jessica's friends came into town last night. We made our way downtown and even stayed under control most of the time!

I got the pleasure of accompanying Jessica to a company picnic this afternoon. I obviously didn't know anyone and she really didn't either, so we basically ate and left. But, the food was amazing (not sure who catered it but if I did, I would certainly recommend them)!. Other than that, I don't know what the weekend will bring. I believe we're going to CO Springs tonight to hang out with some of her friends again, but we'll see if that comes to fruition (10 point word).

It's Official (sorry, bad pun)!

I passed my test tonight! Was the first one done and got a 92. I probably could have done better, but I only needed a 70 to get certified so I got done as fast as I could. They had signups for games right outside the room so I hurried to get done so I could get first choice on reffing assignments. I've got about 12 games this fall so far and that will keep me really busy. Not sure if I'll do any more or not.

Been taking it easy at work this week. I decided I owed it to myself not to work awful hours, so I haven't worked over 9 hours yet. Plus, I'll probably use my extra hours and leave about noon on Friday, so it will be nice to relax. Of course, now that I say that I'll probably get stuck working all weekend.

Went home to Zach's wedding this weekend. It was a lot of fun. I also asked Zach and Jarrod to be in my wedding as groomsmen, so I'm mowing stuff down left and right! Only two more people to ask and I'm done with my part :) Well, maybe not, but mark the first big item off the list!
