Wedding Crisis Uno
As you may of heard by now, we were treated with some midwestern not-so-hospitality today when the owners of Clover Cliff Bed & Breakfast decided four days before our wedding that they didn't want us there anymore. We were given one excuse after another...
...we need portapotties (they originally told us we didn't since we weren't doing a reception there, but all of a sudden it is "state law" to have a place to pee during the hour we'll be there saturday)
...they've got a sick horse (they bring Laura up in a horse-drawn carriage, but even though we told them to forget about that they said they just can't do a wedding without it)
...there are too many people to part (they claim that we told them we'd only have about 20 guests, even though we are at like 190 - smells fishy!!)
...there was poor communication (Laura sent them an email a month ago outlining times, responsibilities, etc. But, since we didn't call them to follow up that they got the email, we are supposedly at fault. It was funny because they emailed us today to back out of the wedding and when they said that I asked if they had called to confirm we received the email...whoops!)
The list goes on and on but basically, I think they just forgot every one of these details that we had gone over with them and were looking for an out for one reason or another. Oh well - we're holding it now at Laura's home near the bed & breakfast; we've got a new place to stay already; nothing else really changes. ALL they were providing was a spot and we were doing everything else. So, a change in venue is no big deal. Had the reception site changed, that would be a nightmare!
The good news is that at the end of the day we'll still be married. It doesn't matter if we do it here, there, or somewhere in between. We're not going to let a couple of cranky old farts hold us down!
PS) Don't stay at Clover Clilff!
