My First 14'er
Finally! After much buildup and a lot of practice, we finally transitioned from the foothills to the big boys...the 14'ers. As you may or may not know, the highest mountains in Colorado are around 14,000 feet about sea level. There are 53 14'ers in the state in various mountain ranges, with Gray's Peak coming in at #9 (14,270'). It's regarded as one of the easier peaks in the list of 53, but it's still no slouch. Ben and I made the 3,000', 3.5+ mile ascent in just under 2.5 hours. Although we tore up the initial 1.5 miles, the last half was all we bargained for. Nevertheless, as you can see from the picture, the view was worth every second of the climb.
Pictures coming soon!
